New Arrival Information

Arriving by Car:
Naval Air Station Oceana lies 16 miles East of the City of Norfolk but within the city limits of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Air station is tucked away among the tall trees, swamps and farmland just west of the waterfront. Naval Air Station Oceana consist of 6,000 acres with approximately 10,000 military, 11,000 family members and 1,700 civilian employees. Your first approach to the Air Station is from Interstate 64 East or West. From 64, take 264 East to First Colonial Road. Proceed on First Colonial past Virginia Beach Blvd. First Colonial becomes Oceana Blvd. Follow Oceana Blvd for the next 4 miles passing the Oceana Stables. The next right will be Tomcat Blvd., which leads to the main gate.

To drive on any base in the Tidewater area you must register your car at the Naval Air Station Oceana Main Gate. It is here that Sailors and civilians that do not have a DoD sticker must obtain a 24hr parking pass from base security to come aboard (if driving). The Pass and Tag office is located in Bldg. 280, directly across from the main gate and is open from 5:30am to 12:00pm. To obtain a DoD vehicle decal, you must present proof of ownership (i.e. title, registration or a notarized statement saying you have permission to drive a vehicle). In addition, you will need a current insurance policy (valid card, policy, or binder), driver's license, current state safety inspection, and an ID.

Arriving by Plane:
If you are reporting to Naval Air Station Oceana, you must purchase an airline ticket destined for Norfolk International Airport. The airport is located about 20 miles west of Naval Air Station Oceana. There is a Navy Representative on duty at the Airport Military Information Booth, located in the main lobby of the airport. Information is available to military personnel reporting to the area from 8 a.m. to midnight both weekdays and weekends. The military Information Booth can be reached by calling (757) 444-3040.
If you do not have a sponsor there to meet you, call the Officer of the Day at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth at (757) 433-5008 or 1-800-953-NMCP(6627) for further information. If the Officer of the Day can not be reached, call the Clinic directly at 953-3805 and speak to the Chief of the Day.
