OB Clinics
Clinic Policies
At the current time all pregnant active duty service members and family members receive OB care in military clinics and deliver at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). This is the case even if you do not receive other medical care in military clinics. Emergencies are the obvious exception to this policy. For your convenience you may select the clinic closest to you for routine care.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so as soon as you realize that you will not be able to come.
For the welfare and safety of all staff, patients and children, please do not bring children to your OB appointment. If you must bring them, please bring someone to watch the children. NMCP offers a free child waiting service for appointments at the medical center. For more information about this service click here.
For an uncomplicated pregnancy of 40 weeks you can expect approximately 9 visits. Your healthcare provider may schedule more frequent visits if you have any problems. Please write down any questions you have for your provider and bring them to every visit.
OB Parking Spaces
Each OB clinic offers “Stork Parking” for patients at 36 weeks of pregnancy or medical issues that indicate close parking. This privilege is by parking pass only. The passes are issued by your OB clinic
