U.S. Military Hospital Kuwait Fact Sheet

The US Military Hospital Kuwait is a 44-bed Level III medical facility located at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Fully accessible by ground or helo transportation, it provides complete resuscitative surgery and acute care to the theater of operations. The hospital is housed in the Navy's Expeditionary Medical system using Base X modular shelters that can literally be set up in less than 48 hours. The Base X system is a more modular, customized hospital care organization that is tailored to meet the medical mission.
There are currently 6 Intensive Care Beds (expandable to 12) with full cardiac monitoring and ventilator capability. There are 32 Intermediate Nursing Care beds, 8 with telemetry monitoring and a Medical Holding Ward. The Casualty Receiving area is equipped with monitors, as is the Operative Prep and Hold area. There are 2 fully-equipped OR's, each capable of holding 2 tables if necessary. Central SterileSupply and a self-contained air filtration/oxygen generation system ensure delivery of care that is comparable to stateside standards.
US Military Hospital Kuwait has the only digitalized computerized tomography (CT Scanner) in the theater as well as full ultrasound and radiographic capabilities. The laboratory is able to complete all basic tests and has its own blood bank. The pharmacy can fill nearly all theater requirements.
Specialty Clinics are available to supplement inpatient hospital services and include, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, General Surgery, Physical Therapy, Optometry, Dental, Mental Health and OB/GYN. Patients that require care outside of the scope of practice available at US Military Hospital Kuwait are MEDEVAC'd out of theater as flights become available or as indicated.
